Apply for Scholarships

Apply for competitive scholarships through UMKC’s online application, open from October 1 to March 1. You must be admitted to UMKC in order to apply, and some competitive scholarships may have a different deadline or require an interview.

• Scholarships are awarded annually
• Half of the award is applied in the Fall, and the remainder is applied in Spring
• Most scholarships do not apply to Summer enrollment

By completing the online competitive scholarship application, you will also be considered for university-wide automatic scholarships.

SSE Scholarships for First-Time Students

All information is subject to change as scholarship funds become available.

Evergy Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded each academic year to one incoming first-year student in engineering, computer science or information technology, and is renewable for up to four years.

• Apply by January 31
• 25 ACT composite

Dean’s High Achievement Award

This scholarship is awarded each academic year to one incoming first-year student and is renewable for up to four years.

• Apply by January 31
• 25 ACT composite or 3.5 GPA

High School STEM Involvement Scholarship

These scholarships are available to all SSE students and are renewable for up to four years if students maintain a 3.0 UMKC GPA.

• Apply by March 1
• Participated in Project Lead the Way, FIRST Robotics, Vex Robotics or other STEM activity during high school
