  3. Make sure you meet other discipline-specific requirements, which are listed in the Academic Catalog.
  4. Committee evaluation
    • Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the admissions committee. This process typically takes several weeks.
    • The committee evaluates your academic background, research interests and overall fit with the program.
  5. Financial and academic advisor determination
    • After the committee’s evaluation, if you are accepted, you will be matched with a faculty advisor based on your research interests.
    • Financial support, such as graduate assistantships or scholarships, will also be determined at this stage.
  6. Receive admission decision
    • You will be notified of the admission decision via email. If you are accepted, you will receive instructions on how to accept the offer and complete your enrollment.

Important notes

  • It is highly recommended that you reach out to potential faculty advisors before applying to discuss research alignment and opportunities within the program.
  • International applicants should also allow extra time for visa processing and other logistical arrangements.
  • This step-by-step process ensures that you have ample time to prepare and submit a complete application for consideration by the admissions committee.

Application deadlines

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. However, to ensure the committee has time to review your application, we suggest the following deadlines:
    • Fall Semester: April 1 (March 1 for international students)
    • Spring Semester: Sept. 1 (July 1 for international students)
  • International students should submit materials earlier to allow time for visa processing.
