About

Dr. Micah Wyssmann joined UMKC in the Division of the Natural and Built Environment in the fall of 2023. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in 2021, where he studied turbulent flows and flow-sediment interactions in gravel-bed rivers. His research in the field of water resources engineering examines flow and sediment transport behavior in natural and engineered systems to aid management of river systems and hydraulic infrastructure. In the lab, he utilizes physical modeling coupled with advanced measurement techniques (e.g., particle image velocimetry, PIV) to quantify complex turbulent flow characteristics and provide improved understanding of sediment transport processes in environmental and geophysical flows.
