Advising

Each student is assigned an academic advisor upon admission. Your academic advisor can help you register for classes, answer your questions, refer you to campus resources and prepare you for graduation. Advisors can also help you locate academic support and ways to get involved.

Each program provides academic advising for their graduate students.

Campus Support

UMKC provides many resources for students to be successful in their academic pursuits.

  • Academic Support and Mentoring - Provides tutoring, supplemental instruction and Roo Up S seminars.
  • Roo Up Seminars - Online and in-person workshops offered on a variety of subjects to help students become better, more effective students. Topics include study skills, stress management, healthy living and career preparation.
  • Student Disability Services - Works with students to establish accommodation plans for documented disabilities.
  • Roo Wellness - Offers evaluation and treatment of acute illness and stable chronic illness and short-term counseling for students to manage their personal mental health.
  • Financial Wellness Center - Provides free, one-on-one financial coaching, workshops and online resources related to personal finance topics.
  • Veteran and Military Resources - A listing of the campus resources for student veterans and active-duty military.
  • LGBTQIA+ Programs and Services - Provides LGBTQIA students with resources and supports on campus.
  • UMKC Women’s Center - Provides support services for the advancement of women’s equity on campus.
