Intro to Innovation Studio’s 3D printers
The first step to printing in the Innovation Studio: This introductory information session will introduce our printers, their control software, and Innovation Studio 3D printing processes and policy. Basic printing with Bambu printers will be covered. Many users are able to use basic printing techniques and equipment after this initial instruction alone, but what you learn here will also serve as a baseline for more advanced 3D printing.

Advanced Printing Techniques- Prusa XL 5-color printer
Learn to use our Prusa XL equipped with 5 print heads to make amazing multicolor models. This session will cover Prusaslicer and information relevant to operating the Prusa XL, as well as operation of the printer itself.

Advanced Printing Techniques- Bambu H2D
Learn to use our Bambu H2D dual-nozzle printer to make prints in multiple colors or using multiple materials. This session will cover Bambu Studio and some advanced features of the software relevant to printing with the H2D, as well as operation of the printer itself.

Intro to large-format printing with the Roland SG3-300
Get familiar with our Roland wide-format vinyl printer/cutter. This machine can print in beautiful full color on a variety of materials such as vinyl sticker materials or banner vinyl, and in some cases cut out the resultant designs to make individual stickers.

Fabrication Studio
Safety reminder: These workshops take place in a working shop environment. Participants must wear closed‑toe shoes and fitted clothing. For your safety, please avoid loose clothing or hanging items such as scarves, jewelry, and wide sleeves. If you have any questions, contact the fabrication studio manager
Intro to Innovation Studio Woodworking Tools
This introductory class is designed to acquaint new users with the safe and proper operation of a variety of woodworking tools, such as our table saw, bandsaw, scroll saw, planer, jointer, and dual-drum sander, as well as some hand tools. The session begins with safety but can vary in content depending on attendee preference.

Learn how to make hot chips! The Innovation Studio’s Jet Vertical Mill is a powerful, versatile tool for fabrication. This introductory session will cover safety, proper operations, tooling, and some milling techniques. This class is a good starting place for those interested in milling work.

Learn to Turn! The Innovation Studio’s Jet 1440 Engine Lathe is a ton of fun, literally! Come see how to “turn” metal into useful parts. This introductory session will cover safety, proper operations, tooling, and some turning techniques. This class is a good starting place for those interested in lathe work.

Flight Simulator Lab
Introduction to Aircraft Flight Operations
Open to the public, this continuing education class centers around the flight simulator and provides an abridged version of the Aircraft Design and Flight and Road Vehicle Test Engineering courses available to UMKC students.

Flight and Recurrency Training
The simulator is available to the public for rental, either with or without a flight instructor. Flight students rent time in the simulator to train for primary, instrument, commercial and multi-engine ratings and certificates.
